Your First Visit

When you arrive at our office, you will be greeted by one of our friendly patient coordinators. They will be responsible for gathering your paperwork and ensuring you are ready to meet the rest of our wonderful team.

One of our talented hygienists will escort you to one of our treatment rooms, where the comprehensive exam begins. We will take any necessary x-rays at your first appointment. If you have x-rays from a prior office, please let us know. This gives us a glimpse into your dental past and helps us treat you better. We use digital x-rays which carry significantly less radiation than traditional films. Our hygienists will perform a comprehensive exam of your gums and recommend a cleaning based on your individual needs. In general, a cleaning will be performed at your first visit, however, in circumstances where time does not allow for us to properly clean your teeth, a second visit will be required.

One of our experienced dentists will also assess your mouth at this visit. We understand that each person is an individual and work to tailor our care to you. We are happy to answer any question you may have of us or your care. We sincerely hope that you will find a dental home at Blue Diamond Family Dental.

The initial visit involves a review of your medical history. When you share your history, be sure to provide complete, up-to-date information on your health. Inform our office if you have experienced a recent hospitalization or surgery, or have recently been ill.

Also tell us the names, doses, and frequency of any medications you are taking — whether prescription or over-the-counter products — and the name of your physician. Let us know about any changes in your health or medications. This information will help us to select the safest and most effective method of treatment for you.

Regular Checkups

We encourage regular checkups for individuals ages three and up. Regular checkups are important to:

  • Check for problems you might not see or feel
  • Find early signs of decay
  • Treat oral health problems early, while they are still manageable

Regular checkups include a thorough cleaning, polishing, and an oral exam by the doctor. During the oral exam, one of our doctors will check the health of your mouth, teeth, gums, cheeks, and tongue, and inspect your existing fillings and restorations, because constant pressure from chewing, grinding, or clenching can cause them to wear away, chip, or crack.

Regular checkup appointments typically take about 60 minutes. Patients are seen by appointment only. We make every effort to be on time for our patients, and ask that you extend the same courtesy to us. If you cannot keep an appointment, please notify us immediately.
